The Blame Game

I have a new blog that I have started to read over the last couple of days.  This evening I was reading the latest post and the author was talking about his day and talking about David and Goliath.  It is an awesome post and blog.  You can read more here.

In his post, he also mentioned the 12 sins we blame others for.  The link he referenced was to the Desiring God blog by John Piper.  It is a great post and I was so convicted by what I read.  I sadly admit that I have said some of the things that are listed on that page.  It has made me want to strive to take responsibility for my own actions and stop playing the blame game.  Who do you blame for your short comings? (This is a retorical question unless you feel the need to share)  You can read the list here.

I am about to read the other blog you referenced, but I thought I’d comment on your question first. I blame EVERY bad decision from my past on my childhood. I’m serious. I think every mistake my parents made resulted in my making mistakes years later. BUT, now that I have a 13 year old – WOW, I don’t blame my parents any more. I personally think my children live in Disney World. They have a great life. Both parents love them, and we love each other. We have a beautiful home, and we send them to Christian school. Mike and I don’t argue, drink, smoke, OR EVEN CURSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yet, I see them making mistakes – SO THAT BLOWS MY CHILDHOOD THEORY. I’ll read the other blog now – GREAT POST, ROBIN.

OHHHHH did you hit the nail on the head or what? I have been guilty of some things on his blame list also. We need a reminder of His great love once in a while. We get so wrapped up in our own little world, that we sometimes forget whose in charge. God is so wonderful and forgiving. This world as we see it would never survive if He was not in control. Thanks for reminding me where my priorities are. God first always.
