On Saturday, Ocotber 10th, we celebrated the 1 year birthday of my granddaughter Kailey. I tell ya…It is crazy that one year has already passed in her little life. She has such a huge personality and she is just beautiful. I wanted to share some pictures with you guys. You won’t believe how much she has grown!

It’s been a while since I posted, so I thought I would let you guys know what is going on with the Griffin family.
I started work in my new job as a 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at the middle school I attended. It is so wonderful to be back where I grew up. I am actually teaching the children of some of the people I went to school with – and that is hilarious. You can look at some them coming down the hallway and be able to say, “Hey! I know exactly who your mama or daddy is.”
Nicholas has had a REALLY great start to the school year. He has been struggling with a sinus infection for a few weeks, but he is getting better. We actually went and played tennis last night. He went to Chapel Hill on Wednesday – his weight and his lung function were down, but we contribute that to the sinus infection. He has a new special “friend.” Her name is Ashley and she is good medicine for him.
John is working hard, as usual. After a long, wonderful life of service, his truck passed away and we had to purchase a new car.
Miranda just celebrated her 14th birthday. She got an electric, acoustic Fender. It is solid cedar and it is gorgeous!
Brian and Heather are doing well also. Heather has a new job and is LOVING it. And it is so hard to believe that Kailey will be a year old in a few days. She is growing up SO fast.
SO…we are all doing well. We haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. I have just been so busy. I’m going to try to do better. If you have a Facebook, look me up and friend me. You can definitely keep up that way. We are so thankful that Nicholas is well and that everything is going along smoothly. Thanks for checking in.

I will keep updating them, but I won’t see her for a while with Nicholas in the hospital. We brought tons of pictures to hang up all over the room.

Today, John and I became grandparents. I know all you guys REALLY want to see are the pictures, so go ahead and scroll down then come back up and read the rest.
I had the distinct honor of being able to stay in the delivery room and watch the miracle of the birth of my granddaughter. Thank you for that, Heather. I don’t think I could have ever been more proud of Brian and Heather. Heather was such a trooper. She did everything they told her to do. She did not get angry or upset. She had this calmness about her that I have never seen before. It broke my heart to see her in pain, but we all knew it would be worth it and she would say it hurts, but she never complained.
I saw my son become a full-fledged man and father in front of my eyes. He was very nervous of course – all first-time fathers are. He was so worried about Heather and her being in pain. He was right there with her through the whole thing. He also cut the cord from the baby – he will tell you that it was disgusting and nasty, but I don’t think he will EVER say he regrets doing it. He cried tears of joy after the baby – I have to quit dong that – after Kailey was born and after he knew Heather was going to be alright.
So here are the numbers: She was born at 1:17pm. She weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and she was 21 inches long. She is BEAUTIFUL as you can see and I am NOT biased – that is a fact. Thank you all for your calls, prayers, and texts throughout the day. It was just wonderful and one of the most exciting things I have ever lived through in my life. I am so happy to be able to share it with the world.
I am going to try to spend as much time with the three of them as I can. Since Nicholas will be gong in the hospital, we won’t get to see them for 3 WEEKS!!!! I’m sure you will be seeing more of Kailey as she grows. We have been truly blessed.

I just talked to Brian. Heather had a doctor’s appointment today. I won’t go into A LOT of detail because some people don’t like that, BUT we could definitely have a baby at any time now. The doctor says that she is dialated 2 to 3 centimeters and he helped her out a little today. 
I am so excited that Kailey is finally going to be here, 
but I hope it’s not while we are in Chapel Hill tomorrow. I can’t put Nicholas’ appointment off and I am just pouting because I want to be there when my first grandbaby is born. Pout, pout, pout. My mama says that if she goes tomorrow then it’s just meant to be. I know that in my heart, but it’s a hard pill to swallow. I know, I’m being selfish. I’ll do my best to stop. 
So now we are waiting with anticipation of her arrival and praying for a safe and quick delivery. I am so proud of Heather. She has really worked hard to take care of herself and Kailey throughout her entire pregnancy. Hopefully my next post will be grandmama news!

This post could also be titled: The Wonders of the Advancement of Technology
Brian, my oldest son, and his wife, Heather are expecting my first grandchild on October 12th. Last Wednesday, they went to have a 3D ultrasound done. It is unbelievable how far technological advancements have come since Brian was born. The pictures are just amazing. Heather says she looks like Brian, but I think she looks like Heather. Brian says he doesn’t care who she looks like – as long as she has red hair. That is so sweet. BTW, they do say that it is a girl and they have agreed on a name – Kayleigh Marie Walters.
This is the best of the bunch. I thought it would be fun to include a picture of Brian – he was just a few hours old when this picture was taken.
